Identification of new antitumor molecules

Tumor development is linked to distinctive characteristics (hallmarks of cancer), with various processes involving different cell types in the tumor microenvironment: proliferation, angiogenesis, inflammation, metabolic reprogramming and cell fate dysregulation. The identification of molecules modulating these processes represents a pharmacological tool for cancer treatment.

Aim

Discovery and characterization of natural or synthetic molecules with antitumor activity in various processes and cell types of the tumor microenvironment.

We make use of a wide variety of in vitro assays to study the effects of compounds on processes linked to the tumor microenvironment (angiogenesis, inflammation, metabolism, autophagy…). We use a wide variety of human tumor lines, primary human endothelial cells and inflammatory cells. We also use animal models to monitor tumor growth.

The synthetic molecule stauprimide impairs cell growth and migration in triple-negative breast cancer.
