Ana Rodríguez Quesada

Ana R. Quesada graduated in Chemistry from the University of Granada (Spain) and obtained her PhD in biochemistry at the University of Malaga (Spain). She has been a visiting scientist at the University of Bristol (UK) and at the UWM (Wisconsin, USA). After working seven years in research departments of pharmaceutical companies; she moved to the University of Malaga in 2004 where she holds a Full Professor position at the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. For the last 25 years, she has been devoted to the search for and characterization of new drug candidates with special focus on the inhibitors of angiogenesis. During this time, she has become an expert in this field, as shown by her contributions in terms of scientific papers, patent applications, books (she has been the editor of two books published in Spanish about angiogenesis and cancer, ISBN 84-9747-035-4 and ISBN 978-84-691-5241-6), and book chapters. Her work, carried out in collaboration with pharma companies and national/international research groups, has received several awards. She is scientifically responsible for the Cell Culture Laboratory of the Servicios Centrales de Apoyo a la Investigación de la Universidad de Málaga, has been Lead of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (University of Malaga), and is a promoter of the spinoff company Drug Discovery Biotech, S.L.
